Show Highlights

For nearly a decade, the Wilmington Boat Show brought a working mix of in-water and indoor boating to the Southeast. Visitors found a broad cross-section of the trade: powerboats and sailboats for weekend cruisers, center consoles and fishing boats for anglers, and tenders, electronics and marine accessories from local dealers. The show's real draw was accessibility. Families, first-time buyers and seasoned owners could walk the docks, compare hulls side by side and talk directly with dealers and brokers, often in the same afternoon.

The atmosphere was unpretentious and community-minded. Dealers and local clubs filled the aisles, and the crowd leaned toward regulars who came back each year to see what was new and catch up with the people who had sold them their boats. Weather was always a factor for an in-water event, so a good visit meant dressing for sun or wind and planning around the forecast.

That closeness to local boating culture is what the show is remembered for, even though its run has ended.
